WINTER WONDERLAND

The northwoods this time of year is absolutely beautiful ! Since we live in the woods, the snow just softly falls on every branch, bush, and twig covering them with a delicious white frosting in contrast to the dark tall trunks and shadows underneath. It becomes a world of gorgeous white and black with perhaps a bit of color on some of the birds as they search for food. When the sun shines, there are sparkling "diamonds" everywhere.

Winter-time is full of fun as are each of the other seasons of the year. If you're like Bob, you'll listen for the ice to form on the lakes, hoping for it to be thick enough to go ice fishing. Brrrr! Me - I'd rather be inside cuddled up and reading a good book. Many, like our neighbors, enjoy cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing or snow-mobiling. Me - I like to watch the birds at the bird-feeder through the window or marvel at the new shapes the snow has added to objects outside.

I'll wait for the hardy outdoorsmen to come home while I cook up a batch of chili on the stove. Once in a great while, especially if grandchildren are here, I'll bundle up and venture out. And, if the weather's just right, help build a snowman or join in on a snowball fight.

Back to Northland Notes or to Camp Sweat and we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day or Bob's Corner or perhaps Pat's Place and we suggest Square Dances maybe Contra Dances and then there's always Mixed Pics
